David R. Kinman

Associate

David is a member of Johnston Barton's Business & Tax Practice Group.  David's practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, health care organizations, investment groups and small businesses in a wide variety of transactions such as acquisitions, refinancings, sales and reorganizations.  David also enjoys working with business owners and key decision makers to tackle specific situations and disputes that arise in their course of business.

David joined the firm in 2005 after graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Law (J.D., with high honors, 2005).  He is also a graduate of Presbyterian College (B.S., Business Administration with an Accounting focus, 2002) where he played football, was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, and received the American Legion Award.

While attending law school, David served as an Articles and Notes Editor of the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal and was awarded Certificates of Merit for Business Planning, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Mergers and Acquisitions.  He is a member of Order of the Coif.

David is a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, the Shelby/Chilton Chapter of the Medical Group Management Association, and the Alabama Council on Affordable and Rural Housing.

David is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association.  He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

When not in the office, you will most likely find David at the lake with his wife Anna, on the golf course, or following the Presbyterian College Blue Hose.  David is a member of Independent Presbyterian Church.
