Alan D. Mathis

Alan is a member of Johnston Barton's Litigation Practice Group. Although he has experience in several different areas of litigation, his practice is currently focused on products liability litigation and resolution of business disputes.
Alan is a graduate of the University of North Florida (B.B.A., magna cum laude, 1999), and The University of Alabama School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2003), where he was an Articles Editor for the Alabama Law Review.
Alan, the youngest of three brothers, has close relationships with his family members and greatly values the time he is able to spend with them, particularly his wife, Kristin. Alan grew up the son of a preacher, and his faith remains an integral part of his life. In his spare time, Alan enjoys jogging, swimming, hiking, golf, and other outdoor and sporting activities.

- United States v. Scrushy, No: CR-03-BE-0530-S, 34 Media L. Rep. 1657 (N.D. Ala. 2005) (on behalf of media consortium, assisted in obtaining order unsealing most sealed court records and transcripts).
- Bloodsworth v. Smith & Nephew, Inc., No.: 2:05-cv-622-D, 2005 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 38756 (M.D. Ala. Dec. 19, 2005) (dismissing distributor defendant as fraudulently joined; dismissing AEMLD, breach of warranty, negligence, and failure to warn claims against sales representative defendant).
- Bloodsworth v. Smith & Nephew, Inc., 417 F. Supp. 2d 1249 (M.D. Ala. 2006) (Feb. 17, 2006) (determining that sales representative had been fraudulently joined and dismissing fraud claims against him).
- Bloodsworth v. Smith & Nephew, Inc., No.: 2:05-cv-622-D, 2006 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 84945 (M.D. Ala. Nov. 20, 2006) (striking expert report under Daubert and granting summary judgment for defendant).
