Kenny Williamson Keith

Kenny is a member of Johnston Barton's Health Care Practice Group, one of the largest health care practices in the State of Alabama.  She regularly advises and represents clients in all facets of health care law and litigation, with particular emphasis on compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, state licensure issues, reimbursement disputes, medical malpractice defense and general business and contract advice.
 
Kenny brings her personal nursing experience to the practice of law.  Prior to joining Johnston Barton, she practiced as a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in hospital epidemiology, long-term and rehabilitative care as well as community health nursing. She served as Assistant Professor in the Nursing School of The University of Alabama at Birmingham and as a private consultant in epidemiology and community health.
 
Kenny is a graduate of Samford University (B.S.N., 1981), the University of Alabama at Birmingham (M.S.N., 1984), and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University (J.D. cum laude, 2003). While attending law school, she was Editor-in-Chief of the Cumberland Law Review, a member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board, the Cumberland National Moot Court team and a Teaching Fellow. Kenny was the winner of both the Donworth Freshman Moot Court Competition and the Saad Senior Moot Court Competition. She was also awarded the Order of the Barrister and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Sigma Theta Tau honor societies. She is a member of Cumberland School of Law Curia Honoris. She is the author of Proving Causation in Acts of Bioterrorism, 33 CUMB. L. REV. 610 (2003).
 
Kenny is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, and the Birmingham Bar Association.  She is also a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.  Kenny is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama.
 
Kenny has a keen interest in Civil War history and has spoken to over 50 civic and professional groups on Civil War medicine.  She is an Arabian horse enthusiast, and serves as the equestrian program consultant for Camp Winnataska.  In her spare time, she and her family enjoy riding, hiking and traveling.
